The US Commission on International Religious Freedom demanded that Egypt should financially compensate Egyptian Jews who immigrated to the US for the loss of their possessions and money. But this very same committee has ignored Egypt’s demands to reopen the investigations concerning the killing and the torture of Egyptian prisoners of war in the 1956 and 1967 wars with Israel. But the committee insisted that American aid to Egypt be linked to their demands of compensation for American Jews whose origins were in Egypt.
