The Freedoms Committee of the Journalists Syndicate condemned the government’s suspension of a number of websites, including the Brotherhood’s website “Ikhwan on line” and the websites of the newspapers Al-Shaab and Al-Methaq Al-Arabi. The Committee pointed out that the suspension of websites is a crime against Egypt and public freedoms and a result of the totalitarian regime. The statement issued by Muhammad Abdel Qodous, the secretary of the Freedom Committee, stressed that the move harms Egypt’s reputation and confirms the military nature of the [Egyptian] regime and the drawbacks of emergency law.
