A prosecution witness in the lawsuit of the attorney of the spiritual leader of the banned Egyptian group of the Gama’a Al-Islamiya Omar Abdel Rahman, accused of helping her client [Abdel Rahman] to contact members of terrorist groups outside the US, of being gluttonous.


Dr. David Edward, who supervises the medical treatment of Omar Abdel Rahman in Minnesota prison, said that Abdel Rahman neglects doctor’s advise and eat fatty, sweet food although he suffers from high blood pressure and diabetes.


Dr. Eward said that the blind sheikh buys food from the prison’s canteen although he knows that eating these types of food will harm his heath. Abdel Rahman is serving a lifetime prison sentence in the Colorado prison for his involvement in the New York bombing of 1993. The American doctor supervised the medical treatment of the sheikh for two year in Minnesota prison before the sheikh was moved to the heavily-guarded Colorado prison.


The doctor of Omar Abdel Rahman said that Abdel Rahman “doen’t listen to doctors’ advices and fasts with the purpose of harming his health.”
