During a conference, organized by the Ibn Khaldoun Center headed by Saad Eddin Ibrahim, on Islam and Reform, representatives of political Islam took part in the dialogue and the Islamic movements were encouraged to be involved in the democratic process. The final statement released by the center said that a new knowledge framework should be formulated for Islamic thinking and this framework should be clear and should take into consideration the changes that took place in Islamic societies over the past 11 centuries.
