Lieutenant ‘Isām al-Dīn Bahjat, assistant to the minister of interior affairs at the Civil Status Department stresses that the new procedures will greatly benefit Egypt, as if, for example, one wishes to build a school in a specific area, based on the information on the identity cards, the suitability of an area can be judged.
