Rose al-Yūsuf magazine published a file on the niqāb in Egyptian society. Many writers discussed field observations in Azharian schools where the students wearing the niqāb adhere to their dress code. Other articles shed light on social practices and describe the “black village” where women wear the niqāb at the age of seven. Many of them do not even know how to pray, but still wear the niqāb because it has become a social tradition. Iqbāl Barakah discusses the niqāb as a part of Jewish tradition and derives Biblical texts from the Old and New Testaments to show the negative image of woman in the Bible.
