Abba Ibram, Bishop of Faiyum, negated claims by monks at the Abba Makarious Monastery that local authorities assaulted the monks during a disagreement that started when the monks beginning to illegally build on a natural reserve. Local authority officials later filed a case against the monks, claiming that the monks attacked them. The Head of Foreign Relations at the Monastery claims the officials were trying to solicit a bribe.
