Last June, over four-hundred Copts in Al-Manshiyyah al-Jadīdah were shaken by the decision to shut down the events hall which they have used as a space for prayer since the 1940's because of the lack of churches in the area. Bishop Binyāmīn ‘āmīn Andrāūs, an authority in the area, claims that the hall is registered under Bishop Angīlūs’ name and that he has been servicing there since 1987. Copts of Al-Manshiyyah al-Jadīdah expect the Minister of Interior and Governor of Sharqia to interfere immediately.
