Three thousand Christians rioted outside the Giza Governorate Headquarters yesterday to protest the discontinuation of the building of an ecclesial service center that they also wanted to turn into a church. The rioters used Molotov cocktails and threw stones, killing one student and injuring 67 people, 24 of whom were police. The riots also destroyed 40 cars. The Giza Governorate Headquarters and ‘Umrāniyyah city council building were severely damaged. 156 people were arrested and 28 are in custody.
