Hānī Labīb's comments are related to a previous article in Rose al-Yūsuf by Wā’il Lutfī.

Labīb writes "the article sees that the problem is not in the [Coptic] demands, but in the language that has come to dominate Coptic discourse...as this is sectarian language."

Labīb continues: "It is a historical fact that this kind of language is the product of historical accumulation, and is not recent. This is partly attributable to the exacerbation of some unsolved problems and is a form of indirect reaction to the excesses of some against the Christian faith."

According to Labīb, Lutfī's article says "that the Copts will lose a just fight if they insist on sheathing the instruments of citizenship and brandishing sectarian ones, as this elicits counter-sectarianism. However, the author says that "all Egyptians will lose if they abandon the way of citizenship."
