In the January 25 revolution, there was an Orthodox priest addressing the revolutionaries in al-Tahrīr Square as well as on the pulpits of the mosques of al-Husayn, al-Sayīdah Nafīsah, al-Hāmidīyah al-Shāzilīyah and others, escorted by two Muslim preachers – Shaykh 'Ulwī Amīn, a professor of sharī'ah and law, and Shaykh Mazhar Shāhīn, the revolution's orator and the preacher of the 'Umar Makram Mosque in Tahrīr.
