Al-Nūr MPs apparently have failed to take advantage of the golden historic opportunity to show the tolerant face of the Muslim faith, writes Muhammad Amīn in an opinion article in al-Misrī al-Yawm newspaper.

He wondered whether those legislators understand Islam better than the Grand Shaykh of the Azhar or even the Prophet Muhammad when he stood in respect for a passing funerary procession of a dead Jewish man.

The Azhar proves everyday that it is the stronghold of moderation and Shaykh Tayyīb also proves that he has never been a pretender when he launched the Family House initiative as he showed his belief in the idea in action, not only words, as well as his belief in peaceful coexistence and interfaith dialogue.
