On the same page of al-Ahrām, Dr. Muhammad ‘Imād al-Dīn, a leading MB member of parliament, stated that the three potential candidates for the presidency will be presented to the group's Shūrá Council to choose one of them to run in the election.

"Those three are Dr. Muhammad Mursī, leader of the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP), Dr. Sa’d al-Katatnī, Speaker of the People’s Assembly, and Eng. Khayrat al-Shātir, the group’s deputy murshid," he said.
