In the Upper Egyptian city of Luxor, local and security efforts successfully managed to end clashes between Muslims and Christians, which left several people slightly wounded and some vehicles and stores smashed.

Some local residents said the clashes began when a minor was driving randomly inside the area of al-Sawāqī in a way they and owners of stores, mostly Christians, found disturbing while another version of the story talked about inter-faith romances and a Muslim young man courting a Christian girl.
