‘Umar ‘Abd al-Rahman, a leading jihādist imprisoned in the United States, on Friday (June 1) said he supports Muslim Brotherhood’s candidate Muhammad Mursī in the runoff round against Ahmad Shafīq on June 16-17.

‘Abd al-Rahman’s family said in a statement by his son Muhammad that the imprisoned shaykh called for voting for Mursī in the runoff because the latter “represents Islam and the revolution,” expressing shock about voters for Shafīq in the first round of presidential elections.
