After the oath-taking ceremony, Mursī hailed in a speech the Supreme Constitutional Court and its members and said that Egypt today is a modern, civil, national and constitutional state, reiterating respect for the judicial and legislative powers.

“I will undertake my role to guarantee the independence of those two powers away from the executive authority with all due respect for the Supreme Constitutional Court and its decisions,” said Mursī.
