The village of Dahshūr is administratively affiliated with Badrāshīn Township, Giza Governorate. It is one of the most historically famous spots on the map of the antiquities-based tourism in Egypt, especially after being chosen by the World Tourism Organization as the place for celebrations of the World Tourism Day. It is also home to the first complete pyramid in Dahshūr. This pyramid was constructed during the reign of Pharaoh Sneferu and is known as the red pyramid.
The incidents at Dahshūr, BadrāshīnTownship, commenced on the evening of Wednesday, July 25, 2012, when a disagreement occurred between Sāmih Nisīm, a Christian 30-year-old ironing man, and Ahmad Ramadān, a Muslim 23-year-old electrician, when the latter’s shirt was scorched as the former was ironing it. The verbal quarrel between the two developed into fight and the supporters of each party gathered.
