Al-Watan reports that President Muhammad Mursī has decided to appoint Coptic thinker Samīr Marqus, Dr. Bākīnām al-Sharqāwī, Dr. Sayf ‘Abd al-Fattāh, and writer, Sakīnah Fu’ād, to his presidential advisory team.
The decision was announced by the president's spokesman, Dr. Yāsir ‘Alī, who also said that President Mursī would officially present the formation of the full team in a few days before his visit to China beginning on the 27th of August.
Al-Watan also learned that Mu’taz ‘Abd al-Fattāh, professor for political science at the Cairo University, was appointed as the president's Secretary of Information.
Dr. ‘Amr Hāshim Rabī’ from the Al-Ahram Centre for Political and Strategic Studies approved of Mursī's choices, saying that some of the figures in the presidential team were highly experienced in politics. He added that in the interest of the country and to succeed in their mission, the members of the team would have work together in a spirit of cooperation and create an atmosphere of communication with the cabinet of Prime Minister Hishām Qandīl (Ahmad al-Bihnisāwī and Mahmūd Hasūnah, al-Watan, August 22, p. 3).
