Islamists lashed out at former presidential hopeful Hamadīn Sabāhī, accusing him of inciting Copts against them and flaming fitnah to win their votes in the upcoming parliament elections. That was after the later conduced several forums inside churches and met with Coptic leaders after they refused to use worship places in politics.

Dr. Hasan al-Brins, member of the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) said that Sabāhī deliberately intimidate Copts from the Muslims through mobilizing them to vote for him.
