Bishop Bula of Tantā, acting president of the clerical council and representative of the Coptic Orthodox Church in the Constituent Assembly drafting the Constitution, said that each person has the right to express their opinion but the disagreements around the elections are final because the church is applying 1957 Statute that regulates the Coptic Orthodox papal elections. He added that the church is bound by this statute that allows Bishops and monks to be nominated for the elections, there is no choice.
