The People's Assembly legislative committee approved addressing the Criminal Evidence Investigation Department (CEID) and the Passports Department for information about the integrity of the criminal record of appointed (Coptic) lawmaker Tāriq Makram Shākir and whether he carries another national other than his Egyptian one.

Counselor Mahmūd al-Khudayrī, the committee chairman, in a meeting Tuesday (February 14), said the criminal record turned out to be clean and that the parliament member does not have another passport other than his Egyptian passport, the committee would announce the validity of the legislator who was appointed by the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF).

He added that if the committee, however, received reports that the MP was implicated in legal offenses, then it would offer a report on the issue to the People's Assembly.
