A Muslim family hosted the family of Coptic local resident Abū Sulaymān that was forced to leave their homes in the sectarian incidents in the north Egyptian Mediterranean city.
"These families are our brethren. Not only we're hosting them in our homes but we are also hosting them in our hearts," a man of the name Hassan, one of the members of the hosting Muslim family, said.
He noted that no one in the troubled village has seen that clip so far.
The crisis was first fuelled by a rumor that a Christian young man and a Muslim young woman were in love and that the woman appeared in a video clip that spread in the area.
"It was all about a difference between Murād, the Coptic man, and a friend of his called Mahmūd, a hairdresser. It is said that Murād told Mahmūd that he had an affair with a Muslim woman. Mahmūd tried to blackmail Murād in return for not blowing the gaffe. Mahmūd asked Murād for money but the latter, in order to escape Mahmūd's blackmailing, turned himself in to prosecution before unrest proliferated. However, Abū Sulaymān, his family and two in-laws Samīr and Dahshūr do not have anything to do with this issue," Hassan explained.
