In a recent interview with MBC TV, Pope Tawadros commented that the fatwás issued that prohibit congratulating Christians on their holidays have hurt them significantly adding that, “Those few people, who prohibit congratulating us on our feasts and issue fatwás on this regard should not be considered as their words are malignant […] and do not represent the indigenous Egyptian spirit".
