Al-Yawm al-Sābi’ newspaper has obtained documents from the investigation into the clashes at the Cathedral, showing that 12 people have been detained, four of them Copts. However some of the accused say they were arrested while trying to prove, in police records, that they had been injured. Another said he was arrested at home, and that he had slept through the incident. According to the accused they will remain under custody for another 15 days while investigated for involvement in the clashes. One of the accused, Shādī Sāmī, said that he was with a group of Coptic mourners at the Cathedral when unknown people fired birdshot at them, injuring some of them. Policemen arrested him the next morning at his home. They had found his home address in the records of the hospital where he was treated for his wounds from the birdshot (Nirmīn Sulaymān, al-Yawm al-Sābi’, Apr. 20, p. 1). Read original text in Arabic.
