The Copts in Alexandria panicked after two bombs have reportedly been found in Saint Maximus, Saint Domadius and Saint Moses the Black Church as well as Two Saints Church. An official note of the security authorities confirmed the presence of two bombs in the Coptic Orthodox churches in Alexandria. The Coptic community in Egypt is afraid that the explosions in the Two Saints church in 2011 could be repeated. Several Copts demanded stricter safety measures and the prohibition for strangers to enter churches without security controls. Meanwhile the security authorities have provided increased safety for the two targeted churches and a stricter security plan for all the other churches.
Father Bidābā of Saint Maximus, Saint Domadius and Saint Moses the Black Church said that the report about the two bombs made them remember what had happened in 2011. He added that the church will try to absent itself from the problems, but the Cathedral is seen as the heart of the Orthodox Church in the whole world and as symbol for all Christians. To his mind, after all these happenings the question arises why no one is ever made accountable for attacking churches. He emphasized the importance of abiding by the law. The priest stated that they will not counter violence with violence and if the government fails to solve this crisis, they will turn to God (Muhammad Mijalī, al-Tahrīr, Apr. 22, p. 6).
