The Ministry of Interior explained why shots were fired at the Holy Bible Church in Alexandria. The ministry stated that the Police Department of the Alexandria Security Directorate had received a tip that some people driving a car were robbing citizens around the area of Stanley Bridge. The police force tried to secure the Holy Bible Church on Abū Qīr Street and a car of the same description was driving in the same street away from the church. Security forces tried to approach the car, which subsequently tried to escape. Shots were fired in the direction of the police force and one of the bullets hit a building in the area as well as the church. The perpetrators fled and nothing more is known about them (Yusrī al-Badrī, Nāsir al-Sharqāwī and Rajab Ramadān, al-Misrī al-Yawm, May 3, p. 3). Read original text in Arabic.
