The Coptic thinker, Jamāl Asꞌad, said that the number of Copts, who left Egypt to various countries in the aftermath of the Revolution, did not exceed two thousand. Their departure, however, is temporary, while the reports allege that they have deserted their homeland. He added that Muslims and Christians alike sought jobs abroad aiming at improving their economic and social conditions.

Jirjis Kāmil, the Coptic Church researcher, commented foreign press reports are “faked,” targeting the spirit of Christmas celebration. Quoting late Coptic Orthodox Pope Shenouda's words, “Egypt is not a homeland we live in, but a homeland that lives in us,” Kāmil urged Copts to disregard such inciting reports.
