Daughter of leading Muslim Brotherhood member, Khadījah al-Shātir, wrote on her social networking Facebook account page on January 7: “It is a twist of fate to see the universe rainy and thundering during the Christian holidays each year as signs of anger of God over the Christians punishing them for defaming and unjustly treating our beloved Prophet ‘Isá (Jesus in Islam), while during our Muslim holidays the sun shines in winter to warm us and its rays become mild in summer. Isn’t this evidence enough that Islam is the indigenous religion?” She ended her posting, addressing Christians: “Why don’t you ask your God to grant you a mild weather on your holidays?” Khadījah’s comment raised different reactions among her friends on Facebook, where 100 clicked on “like” supporting her comments and 70 “share” clicks were hit. Laylá Sāmī criticized Khadījah’s comment, citing the Quranic verse that says: “For you is your religion, and for me is my religion” (Surat Al-Kāfirūn  or The Disbelievers, 109:6), adding that all are Egyptians. Umaymah Yassīn commented that the timing to tackle such theories was not suitable. Another friend wrote that many Muslims died in Indonesia due to the phenomenon of nature the Tsunami, urging Khadījah not to provoke the feelings of Christians (Sarah Sanad, al-Watan, Jan. 9, p. 2).  Read original text in Arabic.
