Father Butrus Butrus of the Coptic Orthodox Saint George Church in Kafr al-Shaykh expressed his gratitude towards the visit of the city’s governor and his accompanying delegation, stressing that this visit is highly appreciated especially after some militant Islamists have prohibited the congratulation of Christians on their holidays. Father Butrus stated that the Egyptian people ignore such demands.

For his part the governor of Kafr al-Shaykh Saꞌd al-Husaynī said that “true religious behavior does not prohibit congratulating Christians on their festivities […]. Our congratulations to you are not out of courtesy or flattery, but out of deep religious indigenousness.”  

The Governor added that “the spirit of religion is practiced not only by words but by actions. We must all work together to build our country.”

It is to be noted that Saꞌd al-Husaynī, who also attended the Christmas Mass held in the Saint George Church in Kafr al-Shaykh, was accompanied by a large number of security and executive leaderships (Yūsuf al-Misrī, al-Misrīyūn, Jan. 9, p. 10).  Read original text in Arabic.
