The ethnic reconciliation session in Matāy (al-Minya governate) have completed the reconciliation between the people of the village of Manbāl, after a group of youths attacked the Prince Tadros Church and smashed up two pharmacies, some shops and cars owned by Copts, during a fight between Muslims and Copts following the harassment of a young village Coptic girl by a Muslim boy. The committee concluded by fining the Muslim group two hundred thousand Egyptian pounds as compensation for the shop owners and the church, and it decided on a penalty of five hundred thousands Egyptian pounds for breaking the peace but the church priest wavered the amount, and the two sides made a pact of respect the reconciliation.
In the meeting in Khusūs a two hundred thousand Egyptian pounds fine on a Muslim family was waived by a Christian family. Furthermore the young Christians who kidnapped a young Muslim boy by mistake and stabbed him several times, and the families of the two sides have held reconciliation meeting and agreed to waive the six thousand pound fine imposed upon the Christian party.
