The U.S. State Department's 2012 annual report on religious freedoms highlighted the continuing sectarian violence demonstrates the failure of the Egyptian government to prevent sectarian division developing, and to conduct investigations into crimes committed against members of religious minorities amongst them Coptic Christians.
