Coptic Orthodox Pope Tawadros II received the U.S. Ambassador to Egypt, Anne Patterson, at Saint Mark Cathedral yesterday (June 17) to discuss the latest developments in Egyptian affairs, in particular Coptic rights. The meeting is one of many Pope Tawadros has held recently with foreign ambassadors. In an MBC interview broadcast yesterday (June 17) Pope Tawadros said that President Muhammad Mursi's (Mūrsī) governance has been 'disappointing', although he said the Church has not directed anyone and everyone has the freedom to express their opinion ('Imād Khalīl and 'Adil al-Darjalī, al-Misrī al-Yawm, Jun. 18, p. 7). Read original text in Arabic.
