On August 5, security services in al-Minya discovered the body of a man killed in the clashes which broke out between a number of Copts and Muslims in the village of Banī Ahmad al-Sharqiya in al-Minya governorate because of a pro-army song. Muhammad Ahmed Muhammad ‘Abd al-Hamīd, 30, resident of the village of al-Mutāhirah in the center of Abu Qirqās, was found lying on al-Muhīt road with a gunshot wound to his head.

The attorney's investigations revealed that the number of casualties has risen to 18, and that 7 houses have been robbed and looted.
