Al-Jamā’ah al-Islāmīyah released a statement (August 18) in which it called upon the wise people in the Egyptian community as well as the human rights organizations to intervene to stop the massacres. News about the massacres security forces are committing against those jailed in Abū Za’bal prison has come from different sources.  These massacres have led to 38 deaths so far, although there are contradictions in the numbers between sources (Kāmil Kāmil and Rāmī Nuwwār, al-Yawm al-Sābi’, Aug. 19).
