Bishop Makarios, General Bishop of al-Minya, confirmed again that Egyptian Copts will not seek refuge abroad and will not seek Western support despite the burning of a large number of churches. He said that he has not yet finished assessing the final losses.  He stated that the retaliation of the previous political regime against the Christians (for their participation on June 30) was brutal, even destroying an orphanage.
