A week after his disappearance, the investigation team of al-Qūsīah police station, in the province of Asyut, was able to unravel the ambiguities of the discovery of a dead Coptic farmer in a field. The diocese of al-Qūsīah said that he was a deacon. The father of the victim informed the security apparatus about receiving a call from someone who had kidnapped the man and was demanding a ransom for his release. The public prosecutor immediately began the investigations, discovering that before the victim's disappearance, his uncle had gotten into a dispute with one of the neighbors because of a conflict for the property of a house on their street.
