The Copts in Egypt have held up an honorable face to the world, striking a blow to the United States, the European Union, and the West. A conference of Egyptian Copts has rejected possibilities of asking for protection of foreign countries, and in the same time the conference has shown its scorn of the fake tears of the United States and Europe over the church arsons in Egypt.
The conference also issued a condemnation of the lies and distortions of an article in The Washington Post newspaper headlined, “Egyptian Christians under siege”, which claimed that the Muslim Brotherhood did not have a hand in the recent violence, absolving the group of guilt as the group had condemned the attacks. It is strange that this American newspaper continues to propagate falsities. Perhaps the administration is composed of people who condone these attacks? The Washington Post continued its lies saying that it was obvious that in the majority of cases the police and military authorities did nothing when these churches were attacked and later did nothing to try to investigate the attacks in the days following them. Then the paper scoffs at the Egyptian police, saying that they had orders to use live ammunition to protect their own property, but that they did not take any special measures for the protection of Christian property!
Perhaps the reason that the West and the U.S. hold a grudge against this conference of Egyptian Copts is that the attendees issued a document in praise of the heroic role of the armed forces and Ministry of the Interior, and expressed their gratitude for the large role played by the Shaykh of Azhār. This came as a slap in the face to the West and U.S. The council of worldwide and Middle Eastern churches did not shirk from taking on its role in affirming that what is happening in Egypt is terrorism for terrorism’s sake, terrorism which is attempting to destroy the churches and in Egypt (Unnamed author, al-Ahrām, Aug. 27).Read the original article online.
