Pope Tawadros II has welcomed the President of the Constituent Assembly , ‘Amr Mūsá, in St. Mark’s Cathedral. Church sources told Middle East News Agency that the meeting took place in the Pope’s headquarters in the Cathedral at the end of the weekly sermon of the Pope. The sources explained that the meeting discussed the Church requests in the Constitution. The meeting was attended by the Church’s representative for the Constituent Assembly, Bishop Paul of Tanta.

The sources added that Mūsá assured Pope Tawadros II that the new constitution will be 100% civilian and that it will radically differ from the 2012 Constitution. Mūsá expressed his hope that all amendments will be passed under consensus of the members of the committee.
