Coptic Orthodox Pope Tawadrus II has begun making significant changes in the Church, completing the process of pastoral and spiritual revival begun by the late Coptic Orthodox Pope Shenouda III. Several decisions related to Coptic affairs have been made recently, including a decision to establish a citizenship observatory to solve sectarian problems faced by Copts in Egypt. The observatory is open throughout the week and has branches throughout Egypt, run through Coptic organisations. A Church source said that the observatory has already received hundreds of cases. Pope Tawadros has also begun an innovative movement within the church to deal with personal status and sectarian issues facing the Church, as well as cooperation between Christian sects. He is also working to establish a diocese for children between the age of one and adolescence, to raise them with a peaceful, Christian education and prepare the next generation to meet the demands of the new phase in Egypt’s history.
