On the evening of Sunday, February 17, a number of Coptic movements organized a march from Shubrā to the High Court to condemn the burning of Saint George Church in the village Sirisnā in al-Faiyum on Saturday evening, February 16. The protesters demanded that the perpetrators be controlled and that the shaykhs involved in the sectarian struggle are put on trial. Additionally, they called for the closure of satellite channels that insult Christians and for the elimination of laws impeding the construction of churches.

Many Copts have on various social network sites announced their participation in the march. Additionally, they have called for violence and proclaimed their readiness for martyrdom. Various movements have also announced their participation in the march, the most prominent of which is the Revolutionary Youth Union.

In a similar case, a number of Coptic activists have called for immediate actions to be taken against president of the channel “al-Ummah" or "the Nation” Shaykh Abū Islām.
