Dozens of Copts assembled in Samallūt Township outside of the office building of al-Minya Governorate, demonstrating against the state of lawlessness, thuggery, and kidnapping spreading in the Governorate, demanding the return of security in the streets.

Midhat Loweis Jirjis [a Copt] said that a group of thugs demolished the fence around his land, presenting him with a forged contract that claims their ownership. They asked him to pay 450,000 Egyptian Pounds to leave the land. Five people were arrested and remanded under custody for 15 days pending investigation. 

Additionally, Coptic Orthodox Father Stephanous Shihātah of Samallūt Archbishopric said that a number thugs took over 12 parcels of land owned by Copts and three Copts were kidnapped (Muhammad al-Zihāwī, al-Tahrīr, Feb. 12, p. 7). Read original text in Arabic.
