In the sermon, Pope Tawadros warned of the dangers of extremism. He said that people who tend to exaggeration in their speech or religious practices such as fasting are being cruel to themselves and others, and that they often use the subject of religious justice to judge others. He also warned against egoism and pride. This sermon came among protests outside the Cathedral over the Pope’s recent statements.
