The army has asked the Crisis Committee for the Orthodox Church to specify the Churches and places of worship that are a priority for rebuilding or restoration after they were damaged during the violence that followed June 30, after a previous attempt to raise the necessary funds for restoring them had failed. Father Bishoy Hilmī, Secretary-General for the Egyptian Council of Churches, stated that the committee had prepared a memorandum to send to the armed forces. The Maspero Foundation for Development and Human Rights (an NGO focusing on Coptic rights) reported in a press conference that instances of violence against churches and Copts had reached 192 cases since June 30, however it commended the increase in the representation of Copts in the military (Mustafá Rahūmah, al-Watan, Mar. 5, p. 8). Read original text in Arabic here.
