Mary Sāmih George is a Coptic girl who was killed on Friday when she was caught in the midst of protests that turned violent between the Muslim Brotherhood and the security forces. According to her father, Mary visited ‘Izbit al Nakhl, a poor quarter in Cairo, on Friday, to make charity contributions to poor families, which she is used to do every Friday. Media reported that the car she was driving was caught in the protests. When gun fire started she lost control of the car and bumped into a light stand. Then the car was attacked with birdshots both from the front and the back, reportedly by Muslim Brotherhood supporters.
