Salafi preachers have made a fatwa (religious decree) stating that it is harām (religiously prohibited) to violate the ruler. They added that Egyptians have vowed a pledge to al-Sīsī (ba’yah) who became president. Muhammad Raslān, a Salafī preacher, stated that violating rulers is religiously prohibited and that it is not permitted to violate his rule, even with a word, as that is unreligious, even if “he hit you in the back and stole your money” (Sa’īd Hijzāy and Wā’il Fāyiz, al- Watan, June 6, p. 3)
Dr Ahmad al- Tayyib, al- Azhar Shaykh, Eng. Ātif Hilmī, Minsiter of Communications and Information Technology and Dr. Ashraf al- ‘Arabī, Minister of Planning has inaugurated Hall of “al- Azhar Memory Panorama”. The project aims to introduce the role of al- Azhar and document its history, the biography of its shaykhs, their history and achievements, the architectural history of al- Azhar and its media history, documenting all that was published in the media about al- Azhar (Diā Abu Safā, al-Akhbār, June 6, p. 8).
