On June the 26th of 2014, The Center for Arab West Understanding organized a forum meeting titled: Egypt’s constitution 2012-2014. The forum was attended by our staff, interns, friends, and supporters. The speaker for this meeting was Diana Serôdio. Diana has a degree in Political Science and International Relations from Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Portugal, and SciencesPo, Paris, and is a researcher at Arab West Report. She was the main author of the publication entitled "The Development of Egypt's Constitution: Analysis, Assessment and Sorting Through the Rhetoric" released on May 2013, and is currently working on a new publication which will focus on the constitution of 2014.
Diana has been conducting interviews over the past year with various members of the constituent assembly, including religious leaders, politicians, lawyers, and many others who were involved in the constitution writing process. Such interviews did not only provide her with the sufficient legal perspective that she requires for a thorough analysis of the constitution, but it also gave her insight on the inner dynamics, points of conflicts, and negotiations that were part of this historical process.
