During the first annual conference of the Egyptian Foundation for Refugee Rights under the title “The roles and responsibilities of refugees in Egypt”, Head of the Association of Egyptian Female Lawyers, Rābha Fathī, gave a speech on how her Association helps female Syrian refugees by giving them legal awareness and assisting them through cases of marriage, divorce or determination of paternity. The Association has reached many Syrian women everywhere and provided awareness about the dangers of illegal immigration and illegal marriage. Furthermore, a small network of social Egyptian cooperatives has been set up to train Syrian females on crafts and organizes small credits for them. Fathī also mentioned some problems concerning the cooperation with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), which – according to her – shows deficits within its communication with civil organizations and in its presence in various Egyptian governorates.(Tāmer Kamāl and Amāni Nāsif, Al Bawābba News, 3 December, 2014).
