Father Morcos Zaghlūl Bolus, priest of the Virgin Mary and Martyr St. Girgis Church in Misrata (Musrātah), Libya, said that after great efforts of the church, together with the pastor of the St. Mina Church in al-Baydā – 200 km from Benghazi (Banīghāzī) – it remains unclear whether the seven Egyptian Christians, who were shot dead in the area of Garūthah, west of Benghazi, were killed for sectarian reasons. Father Bolus said that the seven victims shared their apartment with a group of other Egyptians from the governorate of Suhag; this raises the question why these seven were taken and the rest was left behind. Meanwhile, the Egyptian labor force in Benghazi said that the situation in the city is completely normal, except for some unrest due to the absence of an Egyptian diplomatic mission; all Egyptian diplomats were withdrawn Libya after five of them had been recently kidnapped (Muhammad Fu’ād, al-Shurūq, Feb. 26, p. 9).
