Badr ‘Abd al-‘Ātī, official spokesman for the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the Egyptian foreign ministry – together with the Libyan authorities – is following up closely on the case of the seven Egyptians Christians that were shot in Benghazi (Banighāzī), Libya. ‘Abd al-‘Ātī said that Egypt expects the Libyan authorities to provide them with the results of the investigation as soon as possible, adding that so far the motives for the crime remain unclear, although it seems that the incident took place for sectarian reasons. Meanwhile, former Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Muhammad ‘Abu al-Ghayt, said that Egypt’s future president should appoint a national security advisor on Egyptian foreign politics. He also suggested forming a ministerial committee to work on a solution for the crisis concerning the Renaissance Dam in Ethiopia.
