Sheikh Muhammad al-Bastawīsī, head of the Imams, accused Muhammad ‘Abd al-Rāziq, the official spokesman of the Egyptian Religious Endowment, of belonging to the Muslim Brotherhood. al-Bastawīsī said in an interview with “Misr al-‘Arabiyya” that belonging to the Brotherhood has almost become a precondition to leadership roles in al-Azhar and the Religious Endowment.
